About This Activity

Chiang Mai is the undisputed capital of traditional Thai massage in Thailand. The Old Medicine Hospital (Shivagakomarpaj), established in 1962 on Wua Lai Road, is the most respected institution for Northern-style massage, which uses longer, slower stretches than the Bangkok style. Reputable studios throughout the Old City offer 60- to 120-minute sessions for 300–500 THB — a fraction of what you'd pay abroad. The massage uses no oils; therapists work along energy lines (sen) using thumbs, palms, elbows, and knees to release tension and improve flexibility. Top-rated alternatives include Fah Lanna Spa and Zira Spa.

Seasonal note: Available year-round; walk-ins are possible but booking ahead recommended at popular studios
