Free Day in Luxor
Luxor, Egypt
About This Activity
Extra time in Luxor opens up experiences beyond the main temple circuit. Rent a bicycle (30-50 EGP per day) to explore the West Bank's rural villages and lesser-visited sites like Medinet Habu — the mortuary temple of Ramesses III with exceptionally well-preserved painted reliefs — and the Ramesseum (Ramesses II's memorial temple). For a relaxed afternoon, hire a felucca from the East Bank Corniche (60-100 EGP per hour) for a sunset sail around Banana Island with views of both banks. The Luxor Souk along Sharia al-Mahatta is excellent for spices, galabeyas (traditional robes), and Nubian crafts at local prices.
