Valley of the Kings
Luxor, Egypt
About This Activity
The Valley of the Kings on Luxor's West Bank served as the royal necropolis for Egypt's New Kingdom pharaohs (1550–1070 BC). Over 63 tombs have been discovered here, including the nearly intact tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62). The standard ticket (500 EGP) includes entry to three tombs; Tutankhamun's tomb (600 EGP extra), Ramesses V/VI (200 EGP extra), and Seti I (3,600 EGP extra for an exquisite but expensive experience) require additional tickets. Come very early (7am opening) before tour buses arrive. Hire a local guide from the valley entrance ($15-25 per person) for context on the hieroglyphic paintings and who is buried where. Photography inside tombs requires a separate permit.
