About This Activity

The Luxor Museum is smaller than the Egyptian Museum in Cairo but arguably better curated — a modern, well-lit facility with beautifully displayed artifacts from the Luxor region spanning 5,000 years. Highlights include the reconstructed wall of Akhenaten, two intact royal mummies, the cache of New Kingdom statuary discovered at Luxor Temple in 1989, and the golden head of Amenhotep III. The museum is air-conditioned and uncrowded compared to Cairo's main museum — perfect for a focused 2-hour visit. Admission is 200 EGP. Open 9am-4pm (closed during Friday prayers) and 5pm-10pm for an evening session.
