Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine — 10,000 Torii Gates, Kyoto
Kyoto, Japan
About This Activity
Fushimi Inari Taisha is Kyoto's most visited attraction — a Shinto shrine with thousands of torii gates donated by businesses and individuals, forming tunnels up the 4 km trail to the 233 m summit of Mount Inari. Admission is free and the shrine is open 24 hours; arrive before 7 am or after 5 pm to avoid the densest crowds. The lower torii tunnel (30 min round trip) is feasible without full hiking stamina; summit hikers need 2–3 hours total.
Seasonal note: Beautiful year-round; avoid midday crowds — visit at dawn or late afternoon
