Hiroshima Day Trip: Peace Memorial & Museum
Kyoto, Japan
About This Activity
Hiroshima is a 90-minute shinkansen journey from Kyoto and one of Japan's most significant historical destinations. Visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, which documents the 1945 atomic bombing through survivor testimonies, artifacts, and architectural ruins. The A-Bomb Dome (UNESCO) stands preserved exactly as it fell. After reflection at the park, explore Hiroshima's rebuilt, energetic city — try Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (a layered pancake quite different from Osaka's version) and the covered shopping arcade. Combine with Miyajima island (30 minutes by tram and ferry) for a full day.
Seasonal note: Open year-round; avoid peak summer heat
