Kinkaku-ji & Ryoan-ji Temple Circuit
Kyoto, Japan
About This Activity
Pair two of Kyoto's finest UNESCO temples in one half-day circuit: Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) and Ryoan-ji, just 1.5 km apart. After admiring Kinkaku-ji's gold leaf reflection in the mirror pond (¥500 admission), walk to Ryoan-ji to sit in contemplation before its enigmatic 15-stone dry rock garden — designed so no more than 14 stones are visible from any angle. Add Ninna-ji temple nearby for a quieter third stop.
Seasonal note: Best in cherry blossom season and winter snow
