Amman Street Food Tour
Amman, Jordan
About This Activity
Downtown Amman (Al-Balad) is a living street food heaven. A self-guided or guided food tour takes you through the warren of streets around the First Circle and Hashemite Plaza, sampling the city's greatest hits: crispy falafel at Hashem (open since 1952), creamy hummus with warm bread, tangy ful medames, sweet knafeh (warm cheese pastry soaked in syrup), and freshly pressed pomegranate juice. The Palestinian-influenced food culture of Amman is distinct from Arab cuisines elsewhere — heavy on legumes, spices, and slow-cooked dishes. Guided food tours operate from Rainbow Street and include transport; self-guided exploration costs very little.
