Jordanian Mansaf Dinner
Amman, Jordan
About This Activity
Mansaf is Jordan's national dish and the centerpiece of all major celebrations — a celebratory feast of lamb slow-cooked in a tangy fermented dried yogurt sauce (jameed), served over mountains of fragrant saffron rice and topped with toasted nuts and fresh herbs. Traditionally eaten standing around a communal tray, it is the ultimate expression of Jordanian hospitality. The best places to eat mansaf in Amman are traditional Jordanian restaurants in downtown and Weibdeh — look for Sufra Restaurant (Rainbow Street) or Hashem Restaurant (downtown, a local institution open since 1952 that serves hummus and falafel at all hours). Budget around 8-15 JD per person.
