About This Activity

The King Abdullah I Mosque is one of the most architecturally remarkable buildings in Amman — a striking combination of blue mosaic tiles and white marble topped by an electric-blue dome that can be seen from across the city. Built between 1982 and 1989 to honor King Abdullah I, the mosque can hold up to 3,000 worshippers inside the main prayer hall and 3,000 more on the surrounding plaza. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times and must dress modestly; abayas are provided for women at the entrance. The museum inside displays Quranic manuscripts and Islamic art.
