About This Activity

Bukchon Hanok Village sits on the hill between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces, its steep alleys lined with traditional Korean wooden houses still occupied by residents. The iconic view from Bukchon-ro 11-gil — terracotta rooftops descending toward Seoul's glass-and-steel skyline — is one of the city's most photographed scenes. As of January 2025 new rules limit tourist access to 10am–5pm (non-guests) to reduce the impact on residents; arrive early on weekdays to beat the crowds and keep noise down in this working neighborhood.

Seasonal note: Open year-round; autumn foliage (October) and spring (April) are most scenic. Tourist access restricted to 10am–5pm since January 2025.
